I take into account the size of your finger when making the swirl to make it best suit the hand it will adorn. A bigger finger requires a bigger ring all round, not just in terms of the band size. 
 If you don’t know your US size you can take the circumference of your finger  and diameter of the inside of a ring that fits you and convert them to the number given in the third column on the chart I supplied in the photos!
